Welcoming Prosperity: A Celebration of
Chinese New Year at Eye Society
Chinese New Year marks the beginning of the year in the Chinese calendar, a time to welcome prosperity, good fortune, and new beginnings. Celebrated across generations, it is rooted in traditions believed to ward off bad luck and invite success for the year ahead.
Last February 17, Eye Society City of Dreams opened its doors to prosperity with a traditional lion dance celebration held at City of Dreams Manila. The event began with an eye dotting ceremony, a ritual believed to awaken the lion and bring it to life, followed by an energetic lion dance that filled the space with excitement, rhythm, and joy.
As part of the tradition, red packets and lettuce were hung at the shop entrance, a practice known as cai qing that symbolizes the gathering of wealth, good luck, and abundance. The lion’s performance is believed to drive away negative energy while ushering in success, harmony, and protection for businesses and the community.
These simple yet heartwarming celebrations serve as a reminder that beyond luxury eyewear and fashion, Eye Society is about honoring cultural traditions, building meaningful connections, and creating moments of shared joy with the community.
